What Day is it?

The Burning Question:

Who is an unsung hero that you see in your day to day life?

Morning Devotional:

I get up early… now I’ve always been a morning person so that isn’t a huge deal, my alarm generally goes off at about 4:15am, and I honestly usually wake up a little before it.  But it is a huge annoyance if I wake up 30 minutes before it.  Because there is NO way that I’m going to be able to get back to sleep in that short amount of time.  So I had to hold in my grumpiness a few mornings ago, when I was woken up by Kris, my wife, right there at the worst time.  She elbowed me gently… and then again, you know so I would know that it wasn’t an accident.  You see, She was up… and she had many burdens on her mind and wanted me to pray with her.  And once I knew that, well it was fine. Sure… Sleep is important, but some things are more important.  It was a precious few moments before I got up and went to work.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

In those early morning moments when Kris interrupted my sleep, I was reminded of the importance of prioritizing what truly matters. While a few more minutes of sleep may have seemed valuable at the time, the opportunity to join my wife in prayer and share in her burdens was far more significant.

In our daily lives, it’s easy to get caught up in the rush and demands of the world. However, moments of connection with loved ones and seeking God together should take precedence. The interruption became a sacred pause, a reminder that relationships and spiritual well-being should not be sacrificed for the sake of our own comfort.
