The Burning Question:
What is a skill everyone should know but for some reason they don’t?
Morning Devotional:
I was not prepared for what was outside.
I should have been, since the calendar had flipped to December a few days ago. It was bitter cold outside when I left the office yesterday and worse yet, the wind was making it feel even colder. I wasn’t wearing gloves, or my heavy winter coat for that matter. I was cold!
My car didn’t even have time to warm up before I got home and for the rest of the evening, I again found myself fighting off the chill. I hadn’t taken the time to winterize my house, either, and I was definitely regretting my procrastination.
If I had been a little wiser, I would have done a few things ahead of our cold snap. I would have dug out my warm coat and the fluffy purple mittens my aunt made me. I would have had my furnace checked ahead of time, and covered a couple of drafty windows in my place. I can’t control the weather, but I can take the necessary steps to minimize the impact.
Are you a person who prepares for the storms that come in life? We are guaranteed challenges in life and that’s why we need to be well prepared to handle them. We can do so by maintaining a strong relationship with God through prayer and study of His Word.
Proverbs 22:3 says, “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.” Let’s be ready to weather the storms by remaining in His presence today.
