Morning Devotional:

He didn’t look like much when I first saw him. He had long, stringy hair, a long beard and was wearing beat up denim overalls covered in oil and dirt. But when he walked into our church service, he changed my view on how we approach the Lord.

Growing up, when our family went to church we would dress in our Sunday best. Dad wore a tie, Mom wore a nice blouse, I would wear a little dress – your family probably did the same thing.  I know that we as a society have gone more casual in our church attire and there is nothing wrong with that, but there was still a part of me that was slightly taken aback when I saw this man.  But when he started worshiping God so passionately, and not only went up to receive prayer during the altar call but also pray for others, I knew he was there to remind me of something.  We are to come to the Lord just as we are.

In John 6:37, Jesus says, “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.”  Broken, wounded, scarred, stained whatever.  No matter your current condition, you can come to Him.
