Morning Devotional:
I have a friend that I have never met in person. We only communicate with each other online, but when we talk we chat about life, we confide in each other about our daily problems, we talk a lot about spiritual matters and we offer each other our prayer requests. You would think ours would be a difficult relationship but it really isn’t. It is delightfully sweet and uncomplicated, primarily because my friend is much younger than I am and a lot younger in her walk with the Lord.
One thing I particularly admire about her is her ability to pray with child-like faith. Whenever she emails me a prayer request, she ends by saying this. “You only need to pray this once. I know that’s more than enough.” I have seen God answer her prayer requests so mightily over the years, activated by that innocent mustard seed sized faith of hers. It’s powerful, because she is trusting in our amazing, mountain moving God to do miraculous things, and He does.
My friend is a constant reminder of the encouragement Jesus gives us in Matthew 17: “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” She only has to say it once, and God moves it for her. May we all have that kind of confidence in Him.
