Morning Devotional:

Have you ever experienced the gift of kindness from someone? I recall a beautiful memory from our time at our church back in Ohio. During the holiday season, an anonymous individual placed a generous $200 in our church mailbox. The gesture was not only heartwarming but profoundly impactful. What made it even more special was that this act of kindness was done selflessly, without any desire for recognition.

This act of giving and the theme of generosity are echoed in the words of the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Gentile Christians in Ephesus. Paul encouraged them to leave behind their former ways and embrace their new life, emphasizing that they were saved by grace. He explained that from this saving grace flows our natural inclination to perform “good works.” We are reminded that we are created in God’s image and are His beautiful handiwork (Ephesians 2:10). Just like the anonymous giver, we too can spread God’s love through our everyday actions.

It’s important to note that sharing God’s grace doesn’t always involve material gifts. We can express His love through various other actions. We can lend a listening ear when someone needs to talk, inquire about the well-being of those who serve us, or offer a helping hand to someone in need. As we give to others in these simple yet meaningful ways, we, too, receive joy in return (Acts 20:35).
