The Burning Question:
What was your favorite school supply as a child, and why?
Morning Devotional:
Yesterday morning, something was really bothering my dog.
It didn’t take a lot of guesswork to figure that out because she would not stop barking! She woke me up with her barking, she barked while I was in the shower, she barked while I was doing my hair. She barked inside the house and she barked when I let her out. She barked when she couldn’t get comfortable in her bed and she barked when I switched it with another one. She even barked when I gave her a plate of food. For the life of me, I could not figure out what she was so upset about.
The answer finally came when I decided to change what I had served her for breakfast. She was hungry, but apparently she had grown weary of the same old menu item I had given her for the past week. A switch from the rotisserie chicken to a delectable homestyle beef recipe did the trick, and her hunger pangs were instantly satisfied.
There are times when I go through life perfectly happy with the status quo, only to realize that I’m starving and I need to find something that will truly satisfy my spirit. I don’t have to go far and I certainly don’t have to cry out for it, either. I just have to accept the invitation given to us in Isaiah 55:
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.” (Isaiah 55:1-2)
