Morning Devotional:
Sunday morning was not the best time for me to discover my car wouldn’t start. I was ready to go to church but when I got into the car and turned the key I got nothing. Sure enough, I had left the lights on overnight and had worn my battery down.
Thanks to some fatherly wisdom and a smart purchase a few years back, all I needed to do was plug in a battery charger and I was on my way. But in that moment when you realize your car is dead, you can’t help but think of everything you can’t do. Besides not being able to go anywhere, there’s no heat coming out of the vents. No power locks, no power windows, no radio, and no way to charge a phone to call for help. You’re stuck until your battery receives energy from another source.
Think of that, and then imagine what it’s like when our own spiritual batteries are depleted. What is the “juice” we need to get up and moving again? In Ephesians chapter 5, Paul tells us to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The Greek word here means to “be kept filled” with the Spirit. We do it by praying, by reading God’s word, and by being in fellowship with Him regularly.
Don’t forget to connect to God today. If you don’t, you run the risk of having your spiritual batteries drained and that is never a good thing.
