What Day Is It?

The Burning Question:

It’s Substitute Educator Day! What happened when the substitute teacher was in charge?

Morning Devotional:

I’m not quite sure when or how it happened, but my neighborhood turned into a Christmas movie set overnight.

A cul-de-sac near my home is now a Christmas light display of epic proportions!  I think every roof edge, soffit, window pane, fenceline, tree, hedge, bush, you name it is covered with some sort of colorful twinkling Christmas light of some sort. There are flashing lights, flickering lights, chasing lights, they are all there in a really stunning display of Christmas cheer.

That is, save for one house.

In the middle of this light extravaganza, there is one house that is obviously dark. If the other houses weren’t so brightly colored or so exorbitant in their light displays, you probably wouldn’t notice this little dark house, but because the other houses were so bright, the darkness was glaring.

It made me long so much for that house to shine some lights of its own.

Jesus said in John 8, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  When I see people walking in darkness, I want to show them the light that is Jesus Christ. I hope you have that same longing because each of us called to share it. We are called to share Him.
