What Day Is It?

Burning Question:

What was your most humiliating moment?

Morning Devotional:

Have you ever had the feeling you’re not quite good enough?

When I was younger and pursuing a career in musical theater, I got that feeling a lot. You have to go through a lot of rejection during the audition process before you can experience the joy of being chosen for a role. Sports activities were the worst for me. I was never the first kid chosen for a team, and was typically one of the last to be picked for a team in a game.

The feelings and fears of not being chosen are things I have yet to fully conquer. When it comes to my spiritual life and destiny, that’s a different story because I know without a shadow of a doubt I was chosen by God. Paul writes in Ephesians, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him.”  (Ephesians 1:3-4)

Knowing we were handpicked by the Creator of the universe really helps in those moments when you don’t feel good enough to be loved. We are not unwanted. We were specifically chosen to be God’s own kids, and that is a great thing.
