Morning Devotional:
Lately I have had some really hard conversations with friends and co-workers about the importance of standing up for faith in God and the truth of God’s Word.
I have always admired the men and women in the scriptures that stand out as those who would not compromise their faith in God for the ways of man. I look to Joshua, who when leading the people into the promised land told them, “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve; as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” There’s Daniel, who refused to worship anyone other than the Lord. He paid a visit to the lion’s den for that.
The one that stands out the most for me is a moment in the book of Acts. The apostles Peter and John, when told by the Sanhedrin to stop spreading the gospel, said, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” I love that – and I find that the people I truly admire in this world make that statement their own.
We cannot help but speak about what we have seen and heard about Jesus. We cannot and should not compromise that stand in our lives. I will say this: Jesus is Savior and Lord over my life, plain and simple. There’s nothing more important than that.
