What Day Is It?

Burning Question:

What is the best compliment you’ve ever received?

Morning Devotional:

I like to think I am a patient person, but I do have my moments.

Yesterday was not one of my stellar days. Waiting in line for the car wash by my house? Forget it – I drove around town to find an open car wash, only to waste twenty minutes to find one.

Trying to park at the clinic was a personal exercise in futility. I couldn’t wait for a car to pull out of the parking spot I wanted so I drove ahead, looking for a better option. Three missed parking spots later and I ended up parking in one of the last rows of the lot. If only I had waited a few more seconds, I would have had a pretty decent spot.

Thankfully, my patience level rose enough to avoid some trouble. I was passed while driving home by another vehicle because apparently, I wasn’t speeding down the highway fast enough. The other driver was met with the flashing lights of the State Patrol. I slowed down and quietly drove by.

My Bible reading last night took me to Proverbs 16:32: “Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.”

I don’t like to wait, and there are many times when I want to tell the Lord why now is so much better than later! But nothing God does is without plan or purpose and His timing is perfect. The waiting in our lives is for our benefit; to build up our trust, to make us patient, to work on our self-control. Let’s learn to wait on Him, knowing His timing is best.
