What Day Is It?

Burning Question:

What word or phrase instantly annoys you when you hear it?

Morning Devotional:

I have been on one of the most interesting, difficult and rewarding journeys of my life.

Recently I shared that I began a weight loss journey and over the past year, I have lost 65 pounds. I have lost weight before, but through a number of fad diets that led to see-saw gains and losses that left me emotionally drained and frustrated. This year has been different, though. The weight loss has been steady and I have felt really good!

However, over the last five or six weeks I couldn’t lose a pound to save my life.

I would get on my scale, hoping to see the slightest change in the figure on the display and nope, I would be denied. That number would not move, no matter what I tried. I wanted to cry, I wanted to throw myself into a bowl of ice cream, I wanted to give up.

Something inside of me said no, though. That little voice was telling me not to take my eyes off the prize. I was to exercise my faith and keep going, believing that the more I pressed into God, the mountain would move.

It finally did, too. I’m down another half-pound as of Tuesday.

Jesus said in Matthew 17, “if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” You may have an obstacle in front of you that’s not moving. If you’re faithful to stand in faith, you’ll see it move.
