Morning Devotional:

With my parents getting older we as a family have been making some changes as far as legal matters are concerned. We’re updating wills, looking at financial accounts and doing all of the paperwork needed to prepare for the inevitable seasons that are to come. In a discussion I had with someone about the topic, the question came up as a joke.  What would you do if you knew you were going to die tomorrow?

Always the person to turn to humor to lighten the mood, I jokingly said that I would make sure my house was cleaned. I mean, just think of all the people that would be coming over. I might want to do some bucket list stuff. I just might want to binge watch the rest of my favorite TV show so I would know how it ended. But on a more serious note, I said that I would want to spend my last day at rest – just sitting and enjoying the gifts that God has given me, and knowing that my last day is not really my last day, because of Jesus Christ and the cross.

Today is Good Friday, and Jesus walked through the events of this day knowing He was going to die. The One who was and is the resurrection and the life gave His life on the cross to defeat sin and death so that we could have eternal life. As Jesus said in John 11:25, “Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies. And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” That’s the question we pose to you today, and we’re serious about it. Do you believe in Jesus?
