What Day Is It?

Burning Question:

When did honesty get you into trouble?

Morning Devotional:

Yesterday afternoon was absolutely crazy!  I was rushing around but getting nothing done while people were wanting me to get things done. My phone was ringing, my dog Abbie was demanding my attention and my to-do list was getting longer and longer. I finally had to say enough is enough!

I forced myself to stop for five minutes. No music, no talking, no tasks whatsoever – just five minutes of silence. In that short bit of time, something changed. It wasn’t my to-do list. It was my perspective.

In 1 Kings 19, Elijah looked for God in a great wind, an earthquake, and a fire, but God wasn’t there. God was in the still, small voice. Those five minutes of silence allowed me to hear His voice again, which was exactly what I needed.

Our lives get busy and loud. We can’t always discern what God is saying or stop the chaos around us, but we can always find His peace in it.
