Burning Question:
When were you the most nervous?
Morning Devotional:
“Mom, I Hurt My Hand”
We were hosting our small group Bible study after church when our 11-year-old, Mercy, came in holding her hand.
“Mom, I hurt my hand.”
We paused, took a look, moved it around a bit, and did what parents of a big family get used to doing, we assessed. With seven kids, you learn the difference between a serious injury and a big reaction. It didn’t look like much, so we told her, “Let’s see how it feels in a few hours,” and she went back to play.
That was over a week ago. She’s completely fine.
It made me think about how easy it is to overlook things that don’t seem urgent. Not just with bumps and bruises—but with our hearts.
Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
Sometimes the things that don’t look serious are the very things we shouldn’t ignore. A little bitterness. A little pride. A little worry. Left unchecked, they affect everything.
Today might be a good day to pause and check your heart—before something small turns into something that isn’t.
