What Day Is It?

Burning Question:

What is better than bacon?

Morning Devotional:

I am still not quite sure what upset my mother. When she slammed the pot of boiled potatoes on the table, launching a serving spoon filled with steamed veggies across the table and into my face, it was clear she was having a rough moment.

When I realized I had become the unintended target of my mom’s anger and hurt, I faced a split-second choice. I could be offended or I could let it go.

We all have “slammed pot” moments where our emotions get the best of us. It’s easy to judge someone else’s outburst, but the truth is that we are all capable of causing pain when we are hurting. Matthew 6:14 says, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Forgiveness doesn’t mean the mess didn’t happen; it means we choose to see the person through the lens of God’s love rather than the lens of our own hurt.
