What Day is it?

Burning Question:

If you participated in the Olympics, what sport would you most want to compete in?

Morning Devotional:

I’ve been driving myself crazy lately trying to pick out a new artificial Christmas tree. With my puppy’s nose for trouble and tendency for chewing things, I know having a standard sized one this year is a bad idea. I’m looking for a tabletop tree, but I can’t decide what size tree to get. I’ve measured the tabletop and the height in the window space I want it in at least a dozen times, and I still can’t quite visualize it. I want it to look full, but not cramped. It feels like it should be an easy decision, but I’m completely stuck on this one measurement.

It made me laugh when I read my Bible last night. I was in Isaiah 40 and read verses 12 and 13: “Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales…?”

Here I am, boggled by a single foot’s worth of fake pine needles, and the God of the universe is holding oceans in His palm. He spans the entire universe with His hand. My little decorating dilemma felt pretty small when I remembered I serve a God who measures, weighs, and perfectly understands the entire cosmos. His wisdom is truly beyond comprehension.
