Burning Question:
What is one thing in your kitchen that you’ve always kept, but you know you’ll never use?
Morning Devotional:
I wear a medical device 24 hours a day, and I use my smartwatch to check readings on it or make adjustments on it throughout the day. If I ever have a problem, the device sends an alert to my watch via Bluetooth and normally, these alerts are silent.
Yesterday, they became VERY audible.
For some reason, my watch started making these chime sounds and I couldn’t figure out how to turn them off! I wasn’t having a problem, either, which made the situation all the more annoying. The constant chiming got to be so distracting that I finally stopped everything I was doing to reset the connection.
Wouldn’t it be nice if our relationship with the Lord did that? What if, when we started to drift or let sin interfere, we got a loud, impossible-to-ignore spiritual alarm telling us, “Warning! Your connection to God needs to be reset!”
Jesus told us how vital that link is in John 15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
That “doing nothing” is the real system failure to watch for. If you are experiencing a lack of peace or a feeling of emptiness, or the quiet conviction of the Holy Spirit, take a moment and reset your connection with Him.
