Morning Devotional:
I was at the KJCY Soup and Sweets event on Tuesday night and happened to meet a young woman there who made an impression on me. It wasn’t hard to spot why, because she walked into the room wearing a sparkling tiara!
There was no particular reason for her to wear it, other than it matched her outfit. She wore it with great pride, too. She was beaming as she walked around the room, visiting with others. She just looked joyful.
Her simple delight in wearing that crown brought to mind the words of Paul in I Thessalonians 2:19: For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy.” Paul’s ultimate prize in his service to the Lord wasn’t literal riches. His crown—his pride and joy—was the people he had poured his life into.
The greatest treasures we will present to the Lord one day, our crowns, are not our accomplishments. Rather, it will be the people we have loved and pointed to Him as we love and lived unashamedly for Him. Is there someone you can be investing in today?
