Morning Devotional:
The Spiky Hair Look
Well I’m going to have to fix that before I go anywhere.
We had a family over for Sunday lunch recently, and they brought their kids along. At some point, my kids and their kids all decided that my head of hair was the perfect canvas for their creativity. I just let them.
The resulting picture is amazing. My hair was sticking up in every direction, spiky, wild, and apparently “perfect” in their eyes.
And you know what? I didn’t mind at all. It gave the kids joy, it gave everyone else a laugh, and it gave us a memory we will probably talk about for years.
It reminded me how sometimes sharing Christ looks a lot like that. It is not always polished or perfect. Sometimes it is messy. Sometimes it makes us a little uncomfortable. Sometimes we do not feel like we are presenting ourselves just right. But the point is not perfection, the point is connection. When we open up, let others in, and live authentically, people see something real. That realness can open the door to Jesus.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:16,
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Sharing Christ does not always happen from a stage or with a microphone. Sometimes it is around a table, in a laugh, or even in a goofy picture of spiky hair. When we let others into our lives, we give them a glimpse of the joy and love that comes from knowing Him. So do not be afraid to look a little silly. Do not worry about being perfect. Just be willing to share life, and in doing so, you will be sharing Christ.
