Burning Question:
What is the fair food you always want to get?
Morning Devotional:
Lately I have been binge watching a television series that I loved to watch when I was a bit younger. It’s a science show where the hosts will take a commonly known myth and either debunk it or recreate it. One of the hosts is known for repeatedly sharing one particular line: “I reject your reality and substitute my own.”
How I wish life could be that easy! The world presents us with its version of reality – one that’s defined by fear, anxiety, and a constant feeling of not being enough. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to do something similar to that quote I shared. We are called to look past the reality of the world around us and see God’s truth in it. The Apostle Paul encourages this in Romans 12:2 when he says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
By immersing myself in His word, we can actively substitute the world’s reality of fear for His reality of peace. I can trade the reality of my shortcomings for the certain reality of His grace. Today, I’m choosing His truth.
