What Day is it?

Burning Question:

What’s your favorite way to engage with the Bible?  Reading, listening, journaling, or something else?

Morning Devotional:

I started taking a class last week and to prepare for it, I needed to track down my favorite things – office supplies! I scoured my house for some good pens, my favorite three-ring binder, a couple of pocket folders, but the one thing I was struggling to find was an empty notebook.

Now I have a lot of notebooks in my home. The problem is that I have written in all of them. I used to journal a lot and I have dozens of notebooks that I have written in over the years. So as I was finding notebooks that might have some empty pages, I was discovering journal entries I had written ten or fifteen years ago. I found one journal I wrote over 30 years ago, shortly after I came to know Jesus Christ as my Savior.

I read journal entries that spoke of my feelings of hopelessness to others that gushed with the joy I was experiencing in knowing the Lord. As I read them, I found myself overwhelmed with gratitude. My reminiscing turned to worship as I thanked God for what He had done in my life.

Have you ever found yourself so fantastically reminded of where you are in your faith walk, how wonderful it is to know Jesus Christ, and what things could have been like in your life if you didn’t have Him? I find myself often in the position of Paul, when he was overwhelmed with gratitude for the gift of God’s Son.  In 2 Corinthians 9:15, Paul simply says, “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!”
