Burning Question:
When have you chased after something ‘big’ only to realize God had something different for you?
Morning Devotional:
“When Service Flows Freely”
There’s something humbling about home repairs—especially when you’re not quite sure what you’re doing. Recently, my kitchen faucet started acting strangely. Cold water worked perfectly, but the moment I turned the handle to hot, the pressure dropped to a trickle. The inconsistency baffled me. Now I faced a choice: call a professional or roll up my sleeves and try to fix it myself.
After a quick online search and a deep breath, I grabbed my tools and got to work. What I discovered surprised me: a small piece of rubber had broken loose and was blocking the hot water flow. The fix was simple—just remove the debris—but the lesson stuck with me. Sometimes, the obstacles that slow us down aren’t as complicated as they seem. They just need someone willing to take a closer look and put in the effort to clear the way.
This experience reminded me of how often we encounter “blockages” in life—both in our own hearts and in serving others. It’s easy to assume problems are too big for us to handle or that only “experts” can solve them. But God often calls us to step forward in faith, even with limited knowledge or resources, trusting that He’ll guide our hands. Serving others doesn’t always require grand gestures; sometimes, it’s about addressing the small, overlooked needs that restore “flow” to someone’s life.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” — 1 Peter 4:10
Like that stubborn faucet, the needs around us often whisper before they shout. A clogged pipe, a lonely neighbor, a struggling friend—these are invitations to lean into service, even if we feel unqualified. Remember: God doesn’t demand perfection, just willingness. So next time you sense a “pressure drop” in someone’s life, don’t hesitate to step in. You might be the gentle hand God uses to restore what’s been blocked. And who knows? The solution could be simpler than you think.
