Burning Question:
What is one experience you’ve had while volunteering that you will never forget?
Morning Devotional:
When I was at the National Religious Broadcasters convention last week, the hotel we stayed at offered something I was not going to pass up.
Gelato!
I love a good ice cream, but gelato is an experience unto itself and this place offered really good stuff. The shop offered flavors such as Belgian chocolate, tiramisu, and passion fruit sorbet. A flavor there called unicorn bubblegum was particularly colorful. The house special was a flavor called Daniel’s Chocolate – a combination created by the owner consisting of chocolate gelato, chocolate cake, chocolate fudge and dulce la leche sauce.
The line was often long but when we had the opportunity, we seized it. Every flavor in the freezer case looked amazing but one thing on the counter caught my attention. It was a little sign that said, “Limit one sample.”
Only one sample? How would I know which flavor to choose without a taste?
Thankfully, when it comes to the choice we make to follow the Lord, we have a fantastic invitation. Psalm 34 encourages us to “taste and see that the Lord is good,” and that “those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.”
We’ve all taste tested the things of the world, haven’t we? If your taste buds are unimpressed by what the world has to offer, try the things of God. He is faithful, and He satisfies so completely that we are never in want of anything. I have tasted and He is good!
