Burning Question:
What’s one thing you’re doing right now to shine God’s light in a world that feels dark?
Morning Devotional:
I love babies. And I love interacting with them—making silly faces, getting them to smile, and maybe even sneaking in a little fist bump.
There’s an adorable little girl at our church, probably around six months old, and every time I see her, I try to get a smile out of her. One Sunday, I went up, gave her a little fist bump… and—zap! Static electricity struck. Her tiny eyes went wide with shock—literally—and for a split second, she looked like she was about to cry.
Ever since that moment, she hasn’t taken her eyes off me. Every time she sees me, it’s like she’s waiting to see if I’m going to shock her again. I definitely made an impression.
That got me thinking—what kind of impression do I leave on people spiritually? When people interact with me, do they walk away experiencing the love of Christ? Do my words and actions reflect Jesus in a way that makes a lasting impact?
In Matthew 5:16, Jesus says, “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Every day, we leave impressions on the people around us. Some are small, some are significant, but all of them matter. A kind word, a patient response, an act of service—these can be the “shock” that wakes someone up to God’s love.
So today, think about the impact you’re making. Are you leaving behind the love of Christ in the hearts of those you meet? Because whether we realize it or not, people are watching—and we have the opportunity to point them to Jesus.
