What Day Is It?

The Burning Question:

What is one Thanksgiving tradition that you can’t live without?

Morning Devotional:

My parents are coming for a visit in the next couple of weeks and I am already starting to prepare. For instance, I need to deep clean the house. I know I need to have a couple of projects for my Dad to work on to keep him busy. I also need to do a major grocery shopping spree and pick up things that they eat that I normally don’t. For my mother, I know I don’t have enough salt in the house.

I don’t use table salt all that much but my mother salts everything. I’m often shocked by how much she salts her food but to her, the salt makes everything taste better. I’d rather pass on the salt shaker myself. An occasional serving of potato chips suits me just fine.

We all know there are all kinds of uses for salt. Before refrigeration, salt was necessary to preserve food. Salt can prevent fruit from browning, it keeps flowers fresh and keeps ants away. It can de-ice roads, it has numerous cleansing properties, and in Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth. We are to have an influence in our world and we do that by sprinkling God’s love on the people around us. How salty have you been as of late?  Do you need to do a little more salt shaking for Jesus?
