What Day Is It?

The Burning Question:

It’s World Usability Day or Make Things Easier Day. What do you wish would just be easier?

Morning Devotional:

I was clearly not going fast enough.

My commute to and from work is not very long. All in all, it takes me about five minutes to get from my driveway to the front door of our building. I’m usually not in a huge rush to get here or to go home, but undoubtedly, someone on my route is in a hurry to get somewhere.

That was certainly the case yesterday. On my way home, I was driving down the street when suddenly, this car came out of nowhere and passed me at this ridiculously fast speed. This was on a two-lane residential street, mind you! I had this moment where I just wanted to get angry and lay on my horn but instead, I paused, I took a breath, and I let it go.

Impatience can reveal itself in so many ways. Tailgating, speeding around someone who is not going fast enough for you, leaning on the horn, the desire to say a few choice words to someone who offends you. Do any of those things show off the character of Jesus Christ? Not really. Paul wrote this in Ephesians chapter 4: “I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” I say we strive to do that because when you think about it, the Lord has been pretty patient and loving toward us.
