The Burning Question:
Is there a Bible verse or story that guides you in responding to people you find difficult to love?
Morning Devotional:
It has been a week of changing seasons. We were enjoying 80 degree weather just a week ago and the other night, it was below freezing. We even saw snow! Daylight Saving Time ended this past weekend, which was for me a stark reminder that yes, this is definitely fall and the sun is supposed to set during the 5:00 hour. It’s the season for pumpkin spiced everything, and I am definitely ready for the election season to be over.
Of all the seasons of the year, this one is my favorite. It’s a season of vibrant color – fall is gorgeous! It’s a season of personal significance for me as many of the big, meaningful moments of my life occurred in the fall months. The season also reminds how rapidly things can fly by.
There is one thing that will not change, no matter what, and that’s the truth of God’s Word. It is always timely and it speaks to every season. In 2 Timothy 4, Paul warns Timothy about how the people around him will not put up with sound doctrine, how they will want to wander away from what God is telling them. Paul encourages young Timothy not to wait for some other time that seems more favorable to preach the Word and share the good news. Let’s be faithful to do the same because God’s Word is always in season.
