What Day Is It?

The Burning Question:

What Bible verse has given you the most hope during difficult times?

Morning Devotional:

I was flipping through some older photos last night when I came upon some pictures I had taken from a trip I took to Israel in 2017, specifically to the Dead Sea. I remember it being a hot day, and the first thing I wanted to do when our tour group arrived at the hotel was to go out and swim in the Dead Sea waters.

If you know anything about the Dead Sea, you know that it is considered “dead” because of its extreme salt content. The Dead Sea is about ten times saltier than sea water, which makes it inhospitable to life of any kind. The salty water also allows a person to be extremely buoyant, meaning that it is next to impossible to drown in its waters. When I went swimming in the Dead Sea, floating in the water was a breeze. In fact, it felt like I was being lifted up in the water, I was feeling so light.

A verse from the Word has been very prominent here at Kinship Radio these days – it’s our theme verse for our upcoming Share.  Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness.” The feeling I had in the water that hot May day was that of my father God holding me up in His right hand, lifting me up out of the world’s troubles.

There are times when I feel like I am sinking but I know I am not because God has never let me down. He has a plan and a purpose for my difficulties. There are times when I try to paddle my way through those times, but God reminds me so often that all I have to do is rest in Him, knowing that He is carrying me through the storm, holding me in His righteous right hand. There’s no way He’s going to let me drown, either.
