What Day Is It?

The Burning Question:

It’s National Talk Like a Pirate Day!  If you had to sail the seven seas, which one person would you want as your first mate?

Morning Devotional:

I have been told more than once that I need a new hobby but the one I learned about the other day is definitely not the one for me.

It’s called fridgescaping and it is apparently the latest craze in home decor trends. You place food in your refrigerator, but then you add to the shelves things like fresh flowers, twinkle lights, small antique collectibles, picture frames and such to create beautiful and even whimsical settings and scenes for your family and invited guests to enjoy every time they open the refrigerator door.

What does your refrigerator say about you? Mine would say if she doesn’t eat these strawberries pretty soon they are going to rot!

Reading about this reminded me so much about how concerned we are about our image. We are so concerned about how we present ourselves to other people. We try so hard to clean ourselves up to be presentable to God but no matter what we do, we can never measure up. We’re reminded in 1 Samuel 16:7 that God doesn’t look at the outward appearance. He looks at the heart and I am really glad about that. The Lord loves us even though we’re not perfect, and He’s the one that ultimately does the heart clean-up. It’s a good thing, too, because those veggies in the refrigerator drawer aren’t looking all that great.
