What Day Is It?

The Burning Question:

What is the best advice you can give in exactly four words?

Morning Devotional:

Here’s a statistic for you to think about. A recent survey concluded that the average American knows by 8:36 am whether it will be a good day or a bad day.

This particular survey also discovered that the events of a morning cause about one-half of people to either cancel all or part of their plans on a given day or call in sick. This happens on average about four times a month due to reasons such as waking up sick or with a headache, getting a poor night’s sleep the night before, misplacing their keys, forgetting a wallet or a phone, or simply oversleeping.

It makes me think there’s something to be said about starting the day off on the right foot. But how do we do that?

I believe the key lies in Psalm 118. Verse 24 says, “This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” When we make that declaration and choose to have that attitude of gratitude, it completely changes our outlook! We may not have had a great start to the day, but this commitment to thank God for His love and faithfulness in the morning will carry us through.

Out of His love and goodness, God has granted us one more day – this day – and that’s a reason to be thankful. Let us rejoice and be glad!
