The Burning Question:
What made you slam on your brakes and pull over?
Morning Devotional:
Over the weekend I attempted to fix a wall clock. The mechanism inside it wasn’t working so I went out and bought the parts and last night, I tore the clock apart. That was the fun part. Putting it back together was another story. The minute and second hand didn’t exactly fit on the new shaft and when I had it reassembled, it didn’t exactly keep time again.
Everything worked fine until about twenty minutes after the hour. The clock hands would stop at that point until I gave them about a five-minute nudge forward. All was well for about another hour, until twenty minutes after the next hour. The clock would stop again until my next nudge.
It would be pretty cool if we really had that kind of control over time. We obviously don’t – only God himself can do that. But we do know time keeps ticking on, and the apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 7 offers us a couple of reminders about the time. In verse 29 he tells us that “the time is short” and in verse 31, He says that “the world in its present form is passing away.” What does that mean for us? Time is given to us by God to use wisely. Let’s use it for His glory and plan, shall we?
