What Day Is It?

The Burning Question:

What song can’t you get out of your head right now?

Morning Devotional:

I think we can safely say many of the victories, breakthroughs, successes and achievements that have come in our lives have come after long seasons of what seems like a lot of effort. Through things like practice, persistence, patience, lots of prayer and hard work, we usually see some sort of payoff, eventually. The thing is we don’t always see the results we want, and that is because we tend to give up when the going gets tough.

That kind of effort can take a toll on your heart and soul.

In 2 Kings chapter 5, we find Naaman, a man stricken with leprosy. He is directed to the prophet Elisha for a miracle cure, but Elisha gives him instructions he didn’t like – go dip in the Jordan River seven times and he would be healed.  This tested both Naaman’s pride and his patience. He didn’t want to follow through, but persistence paid off.

Let’s be honest. It’s hard to keep going when everything inside you is telling you to quit. There are times when God tells us to move on but I think that’s a rare thing. More often than not, God is telling us not to give up, to keep pressing into what He is doing and stay in the fight. There are so many people out there who choose to leave and lose when victory is right around the corner.

Whatever is going on right now, don’t quit too soon. Press in, hold on, because that victory is coming. You just haven’t seen it yet.
