Morning Devotional:
The Christmas season is a great time of year, but it can also be one that raises your blood pressure. I’ve talked to a lot of people in the past couple of days who have been feeling the stress of getting ready for the holiday. They still have shopping, baking, cleaning, and packing to do before they can even begin to feel like they can get a handle on enjoying the upcoming weekend. Truthfully, I know how they feel.
I have said for years that I always feel like I nod out and fall on Christmas because I am constantly running through this season like a race, sprinting toward a tinseled finish line of some kind. That’s why I believe we have a decision to make. We can choose to get bogged down in the stress, or we can center ourselves on the Lord. For me, that has meant counting my blessings, pausing to give Him thanks, and being intentional in my worship to our Savior.
We don’t have to spend this season buried in stress. It’s a season to remember that because of Jesus, we have been blessed.
