Morning Devotional:
It is a surprisingly rare occurrence last night, I got to have a long talk with my brother. We had a great chat but over the course of our conversation, he informed me that he had recently made his wife and daughter cry.
I was puzzled by this information. I thought to myself, what could my brother possibly have done to do this? My sister-in-law is tough as nails and frankly, so are my nieces so whatever happened, it had to be big. Thankfully I didn’t have to wait very long for an explanation.
My brother and his family were eating at a restaurant when he noticed an elderly woman dining alone at another table. My brother decided to do a good deed and when the time came to pay for their meal, he got up and paid for hers as well. The elderly woman was overcome by my brother’s generosity. She gave my brother a big hug, thanked the rest of the family profusely – you get the picture. As my brother continued to describe the moment, he went on to share how the more this woman shared her gratitude, my sister-in-law and niece melted into tears, overwhelmed by what transpired.
It doesn’t take a lot to be a blessing to another person and when we bless others, we may just be softening someone’s heart to bring them closer to Him. Get out there and be a blessing!
