Morning Devotional:
Where is Jesus? We were watching a Christmas special as a family. It was one I remember watching years ago. It was funny, it was heartwarming. It brought back lots of feelings of Nostalgia. But as it wrapped up, I took a look at it with a critical eye… something I would have done as a kid, and I asked. Where was Jesus? And outside of a couple of songs in the background, I noticed away in the manger playing at one point, and maybe a few others… but no lyrics, He wasn’t there. Completely not there. Now I’m not one to be go crazy on people for saying happy holidays, instead of Christmas, or join the latest boycott, but I did have to think, am I giving Jesus his due at this time of year. Am I taking time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. The Amazing thing that is spoken of in the famous verse. “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). Its ok to give each other gifts… to put up a Christmas tree, to watch a Christmas movie… as long as we always circle back to Jesus, on a rescue mission to earth, to save us from our sins, and from ourselves.
