Morning Devotional:
I wasn’t going to take a break from my diet until next week…However…. My wife made a dessert, because SHE wanted it. I saw that and said, nope, I’m not waiting. It’s a very midwestern thing, maybe you’ve had it. Its cottage cheese, Cool Whip and orange Jello all mixed together and my kids, to a man, HATE it. But it’s like a nostalgic thing for me… Like it’s not the best dessert in the world but I haven’t had it in years, and I was already planning to take a little break from the diet next week… so I guess I got a little head start on that. Now I’m glad I did, because then I had a brilliant opportunity to stand up to my kids in a moment of solidarity with my wife to say, I love you kids, but this woman is my partner in this world and she makes the best food, no matter what you say. And I could do it, while I wolfed down that amazingness. Ephesians 5:25 says, “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” It was a great moment. I could show my wife that I loved and appreciated her, AND bonus, I got to eat the dessert. I think that was worth the extra calories.
