Morning Devotional:

I had a meeting in a building that I have never been to before. When I got to the location, I found myself very thankful that there were plenty of signs pointing me to the room where the meeting was being held because without them I would have been hopelessly lost. When I reached my seat in the room, I took the few moments I had before the meeting began to offer my thanks to God and pose a thought before the Lord – have I ever been completely lost without Him?

A story I read years ago came to my mind about a group of soldiers who thought they would never see their next step in their journey home. An Israeli platoon of soldiers found themselves in the middle of a minefield along the Syrian border during the Yom Kippur War of 1973. When the platoon realized where they were, they started to dig out the mines and disarm them. Suddenly, a fierce wind began to blow, so hard in fact that it removed enough of the sand in the minefield to expose all of the mines. Once the mines were exposed, the soldiers were able to simply walk through the minefield unharmed.

If you found yourself in the middle of a minefield, what would you do?  I’d stop in my tracks, for sure, but as a Christian I would definitely call upon the promise we have in Psalm 119:105, where it says that God’s word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. I know I would need to stop in the spiritual battlefield to let the Lord go before me, guide my steps, and speak His word to me to guide me through the battle safely. Are you doing that today?  The signs are there for you to follow.  Trust in Him to get you the minefield.
