Morning Devotional:

Have you ever agonized over a product purchase?

I have been trying to decide whether to repair or purchase a new dishwasher. Considering the fact that I don’t like doing dishes myself, this is a very necessary purchase in my book. So lately I have been scouring the internet looking for the cost of the necessary part to repair my machine, weighing the cost of a repairman versus the possibility of doing the work myself, or going all out and purchasing new. Ultimately, I’ve come to realize that what my decision hinges on is my definition of worth. What is my time, my money and my need for this appliance worth to me?

When I think of what we consider of value, I am always drawn to Jesus’ parables in Luke 15. The woman who lost a coin scoured her entire home to find a coin she lost, which was worth an entire day’s wage. That coin held great value but it still represents so little compared to what you and I are worth in the eyes of God. We are worth everything to Him – so much that God gave His Son Jesus to pay the price of our sins and secure our salvation and eternal life with Him.  His agony there to pay the price for me?  Best purchase ever – no doubt about it.
