Morning Devotional:
My parents paid me a visit during my vacation last week and as they do, they bring a very special companion with them wherever they go – a two year old Bichon Frise, Shih Tzu mix puppy named Molly. She is a cutie pie, about four times the size of my dog, Zoey and she is rambunctious! With her still in that curious puppy stage, she was hard to contain for much of my Mom and Dad’s visit. She was so entertaining and I loved having her around.
One thing that I love about Molly is the fact that she is definitely a lap dog, and whenever she could, she would find a way on or near my mother’s lap for a snuggle. When my Mom would give her a pat on the head, that is where Miss Molly stayed – she knew her place was at her master’s side, lingering in her master’s presence, knowing she was safe and secure there, no matter what.
I have always said that you can learn a lot from a dog. I have learned a lot from my Zoey and I saw the same lesson in Molly last week, too. We have every invitation to stay close to our Master and we have no reason not to take Him up on the opportunity. When the Lord says, “Come to Me and I will give you rest,” don’t miss the invitation. Get up on His lap and stay there. You’re always welcome.
