Morning Devotional:

The past week was a full-tilt week for the Crosby family. The demands of life are at an all-time high and so are the emotions that come with turmoil, stress and rapid change. A dear friend of mine, not knowing the full scope of what I was walking into this past week, offered me a care package several days ago with an item that became very meaningful to me last night.  It’s a white wooden home decor piece with the saying, “Give it to God and go to sleep.”

Last night, that’s exactly what I did.

I came home from a whirlwind weekend of travels to the messy house I hastily left before dawn on Friday morning. I had a pile of household chores I could have done and probably should have, a pile of things I could have done to get ready for work today, but I had hit my limit. My mind was mush, my body was tired and I realized that any additional effort I would have put out would have been in my own strength and not what God had intended. God wanted me to rest, so I laid down all the burdens, settled in for the night and let my eyes fall on Psalm 127:2 where it says, “The Lord gives to His loved ones even while they sleep.”

I know it’s Monday and we all have to get through the work day but you know what, friend? It’s okay to rest. God has ordained it. So tonight, give it to God and go to sleep.
