Morning Devotional:
I left work yesterday and landed at home in a sour mood. The reasons are too many to mention, but by the evening I was so low I was pretty sure I had hit rock bottom and bounced a couple of times. It never fails, though – when I get into those places, the Lord finds a creative way to pull me out of them. Last night, it was a website featuring performances from Christian standup comedians. I started watching the videos and I laughed for about an hour straight. You know how they say laughter is the best medicine, right? I got a dose of the finest medicine out there and boy, did I ever need it.
There is a time and season for everything and that includes laughter. I have to marvel at how quickly tears can become laughs and how sorrow turns into joy. We all have those times when the world would tell us that we have every right to sulk but in those moments, there is a promise we need to remember from the Lord. Job 8:21 says, “He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.
