Morning Devotional:
I had a crazy, busy, and stressful weekend – one that kept me up late at night and woke me up early both days. Yesterday, in the middle of the melee I needed a pep talk. Some kind of inspirational moment to lift my spirit and help me ride above the torrent of all that was going on around me. Did I do what a normal Bible believing Christian should do and turn to the Word of God? Nope, I went to YouTube.
Specifically, I looked up a scene from one of my favorite movies where the main character gives this amazingly inspirational speech to an army of weary warriors about to enter the battle of their lives. The penultimate line in the speech is the moment where the hero declares, “there may come a time when the courage of a man fails, but it is not this day.” A powerful statement of faith, right?
When our enemy seeks to mess with us, we need to make the bold confession of faith. We can, too, because when we are in Christ, our victory is already won. Declare that truth because it is yours today. As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15, “Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” The enemy will not prevail in your day today. Not today and not ever.
