Morning Devotional:
It was about to be a disaster, until I realized the source of the problem.
I was getting ready for work this morning when the worst thing possible happened. I had finished my makeup and when I went to dry my hair, my hair dryer wouldn’t turn on. There was nothing. No sound, no power, it was completely dead. I have thick hair that is kind of hard to manage and at 4:00 AM, you can’t exactly run to the store and pick up a replacement.
My moment of panic became just that – a moment – as I quickly deduced the problem before me. You know those buttons that they put on electrical outlets, the ones that trip when they sense an electrical surge? The button had inexplicably tripped, and once I pressed the button worked just fine. Power was restored and my crisis was averted.
We rely on electricity to power so many things in our everyday lives. As believers and followers of Jesus, we rely on the power that comes from God. Paul prays for in Ephesians chapter one that “the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you will know… what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.” Do you know the kind of power that is available to you in the Lord? It’s well worth it to make sure we’re plugged in.
