Morning Devotional:
I would have loved to have been on that plane.
Last Monday night, EasyJet flight 1806 made a bit of a diversion as it was flying from Reykjavik to Manchester. The captain of the flight performed a controlled turn in order to allow his passengers to see an incredible display of what I think is one of nature’s greatest sights – the aurora borealis, or the northern lights.
The 360-degree fly-by gave every passenger on that plane a front row seat to something I have wanted to see for myself since I first saw the northern lights as a young child. As someone who loves to study the stars and has spent many a night gazing up into the night sky, the opportunity to have been on that plane would have taken my breath away.
To be honest with you, when I take the time to stare into the sky and admire God’s creation, it’s not hard to find myself in that place of awe and wonder. I have no problem agreeing with King David when he says in Psalm 19, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” The next time you’re outside, look up and give God praise.
