Who Is Jesus?

John 8:58
Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
From the beginning, this blog was intended to glorify God, help Christians in their walk with God, and lead the lost to God through Jesus Christ.
I have made a promise that what I write here will focus on Jesus. I will not put Scripture under a microscope to the extent that the character and personality and love of Jesus is lost. I will not make Jesus an academic exercise.
So, who is Jesus?
The Bible says Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the King of kings and Lord of lords, the way, the truth, and the life, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the only begotten Son of God, the savior of the world, the light of the world, the lamb of God, the good shepherd, the bread of life, the messiah, the Christ, and ( as it says on the radio tower, Jesus is Lord.)
To those of us raised as Christians, we all know what those words mean, but how do we describe Jesus to people who don’t know what those words mean?
In is book, “Mere Christianity,” C.S. Lewis eloquently stated who Jesus is not:
A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic – on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg – or he would be the devil of hell. You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us.”
Jesus is he who had the courage to look the religious leaders of the time straight in the eye and tell them they were blind guides because they were so caught up in making up rule after rule after rule that they had forgotten about justice and mercy and faith.
Jesus is he who had the mercy to stop those same leaders from killing a woman because they caught her in the act of adultery by showing them they were no better than her.
Jesus is he who had the compassion to weep with his friends over the death of another friend and the power to raise that friend from the dead.
It is Jesus who had the humility to stoop and wash the dusty, dirty feet of those who were there to serve Him—including the one who would betray him to death.
It is in that very Jesus that God Himself stepped down from heaven into this world and did for me what I could never, ever do for myself. He healed my broken relationship with God by dying nailed to a cross, taking all the punishment I deserve and none of which He deserved– and then rising from the dead. He took away all my sin and everything that separates and puts a wall between me and the almighty creator of the universe, God.
And, He did this when I did not in any way, shape or form deserve it.
And all because He loves me.
So, who is Jesus to you?
Today’s Praise
2 Corinthians 4:6
For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
