The Burning Question:
What is something that you have had to overcome?
Morning Devotional:
I needed to get a new belt. This has been a struggle every time, and I almost always get the wrong size. I’ve gone off my pants size, I’ve tried the belt on, but usually really quickly , because I don’t want anyone at the store to think I’m stealing it, and what usually happens Is I end up with a belt that fits… but barely. Like it’s either too long and I have to add holes to even use it, or it is BARELY big enough and I have to really suck it in and be uncomfortable to wear it. Well this time I noticed something. The store I went to had a sizing chart ON the belt! And What do you know, your pants size is NOT the same thing as your belt size. I went off the chart and my belt fits me perfectly. In our journey through life, we often encounter struggles that seem insurmountable. We search for solutions, but despite our efforts, we repeatedly find ourselves facing the same challenges. Like the quest for the right-sized belt, we may try various methods, but somehow, we always end up feeling uncomfortable or unsatisfied.
Yet, amidst our struggles, there lies a valuable lesson waiting to be discovered. Just as the sizing chart on the belt provided clarity and guidance, so too does God offer us direction in our lives. When we rely solely on our own understanding or follow the standards set by the world, we may find ourselves constantly falling short of what we truly need.
In Proverbs 3:5-6, we are reminded, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” This scripture encourages us to place our trust in God and acknowledge His guidance in all aspects of our lives.
When we surrender our struggles to God and seek His wisdom, we will find that He provides the perfect fit for every situation. Just as following the sizing chart led to a belt that fit perfectly, following God’s word leads us to paths of fulfillment and contentment.
