Morning Devotional:
I love watching a really good illusionist. I saw a special on TV not too long ago that featured one and I was glued to the screen. It wasn’t necessarily because of the illusion or trick itself. No, I’m the person trying to figure out the distraction that was used to draw my attention away to the action of the illusion itself. The person who disappeared from that booth? I’m the person looking for the trap door or the escape route the assistant took to get off the stage.
The best illusions can always be explained somehow but we’re not always privy to the answers. However, those illusions pale in comparison to the miracles of God – God’s inexplicable ways of delivering on His promises. The list is endless – how did God cause a sea to part, the sun to stand still, have Jericho’s walls crumble with a shout? How exactly does a donkey talk, or a man survive inside a fish for three days or, get this, raise people back to life? Mind blown, but to God that’s a normal day.
God is a god of miracles and if you want to see one, be on the lookout because He is still in the miracle business. In Luke 18:27, Jesus says, “The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.” I can’t wait to watch.
