She Went Back to Work<\/span><\/p>\n

My wife has embarked on quite a journey in her 40s. She has decided to become a dental hygienist.<\/span><\/p>\n

That process takes a while. There have been prerequisite classes, applications, and a lot of hard work. She has not even been accepted into the university program yet. But in the meantime, a local dentist has already hired her. She is not cleaning teeth yet, but she is supporting the hygienists and dentists in the office.<\/span><\/p>\n

She works three days a week, and honestly, she is flourishing.<\/span><\/p>\n

The rest of us are figuring it out.<\/span><\/p>\n

The funny thing is that every once in a while I’ll find myself thinking, <\/span>I wonder what’s for supper tonight?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Then it hits me.<\/span><\/p>\n

Oh wait. That’s up to me.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I am the one making supper.<\/span><\/p>\n

The adjustment has been good for all of us. Everyone has had to pitch in a little more. Everyone has had to learn some new responsibilities. And while change can be uncomfortable, it has also helped us grow.<\/span><\/p>\n

God often grows us by changing our circumstances. We get comfortable with the roles we play and the routines we know. Then something shifts, and suddenly we are asked to do things we have never had to do before.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, <\/span>“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Sometimes a new season means new responsibilities. Sometimes it means learning skills you never expected to need. Sometimes it means cheering on someone you love as they step into what God is calling them to do.<\/span><\/p>\n
