The Award I Didn\u2019t Expect<\/b><\/p>\n

My son Malachi had a lot of \u201clasts\u201d during his final week of high school. One of them was his final choir concert.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, Malachi had only been in choir for the last two years. He was not on the choir committee. He did not earn a varsity-style music letter. So when the choir director said, \u201cI have two special awards to give,\u201d I honestly did not think much of it.<\/span><\/p>\n

One award for a female student. One for a male student.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then they called Malachi\u2019s name.<\/span><\/p>\n

I was shocked. Proud too. My wife called it the \u201cChoir MVP\u201d award, though I am not even sure what the official title was. But honestly, the part I loved the most was not even the award itself.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was watching his brothers and sisters explode with excitement for him. Cheering. Smiling. Genuinely thrilled.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is something beautiful about celebrating someone else\u2019s success.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Bible says in <\/span>Romans 12:15<\/b>, <\/span>\u201cRejoice with those who rejoice.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

That sounds simple, but it is not always easy. Sometimes jealousy sneaks in. Comparison creeps in. But love celebrates when others succeed.<\/span><\/p>\n

And that is one of the best parts of being part of a family, and especially part of the family of God. We are meant to cheer each other on.<\/span><\/p>\n

So today, look for a reason to celebrate someone else. Encourage them. Cheer loudly for them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because sometimes the greatest sign of God\u2019s love in us is not how we handle our own victories, but how we respond to someone else\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n
